Changes Coming to Tacoma’s Annual Arts Celebration

The month-long celebration of the arts in Tacoma known as Tacoma Art at Work Month will be back again this year, but with a few key changes.

First, the name will be changing from Art at Work to Tacoma Arts Month. The name change is intended to have a more inclusive sound, encompassing the arts in all forms throughtout the community.

Second, the event will be moving from November to October in 2014. This shift will allow Arts Month celebrations to align better with performing arts season openings, and with national Arts & Humanities Month. An October celebration also means events will have fewer holiday scheduling conflicts and (hopefully) better weather.

Many of the staples of Art at Work Month will continue with the new Tacoma Arts Month, including the AMOCAT Awards and studio tours, as well as dozens of other opportunities for the public to interact with the arts and the arts community.
