It's going to be an expedited process, with interviews and selection both scheduled for next Tuesday. This time next week District 1 should have their new (interim) council representative named.

Some familiar names, some less so. Some we know personally, so we'll keep our opinions to ourselves. At least one candidate has listed the Tacoma Runners in his list of community activities...

But what do you think? Do you see anyone who gets your support?

Do you want to help the folks at Exit133 pay our bills and keep up with of all things Tacoma? Do you want to see even more coverage? Exit133 has always been free to read and comment, and it will stay that way. However, over the years, readers have contributed to the bank account to help us keep up our coverage of goings-on around town. Contribute and this message disappears!

2014 is going to be a critical year for transportation planning in Tacoma.

It is the year for charter review and selection of a route alternative for Tacoma Link and finalization of transportation plans at Pierce Transit, Sound Transit and a transit element of the City of Tacoma transportation master plan.  If we get someone on Council that complains about nothing but parking, we will make that much less progress on development of our transit system.

Whoever this person is, they should have a similar progressive outlook on tax and transportation issues that the west end of Tacoma voted for in electing Anders Ibsen in the first place.

How about the Council select someone who will focus on implementing the findings in the survey the City comissioned that queried residents on what the City should focus on with regards to spending? Is that too much to ask? And FWIW the number one priority for residents who were polled was pavement restoration, preservation and maintenance.

City Council gets sucker punched from Uncle Sam’s human chattel—It would take an abused woman mentality to stack the council with another ward of the state.

Two exceptional candidates Sergio Hernandez and Nathe Lawver—District 1 would be fortunate to have either one of these gentlemen as their Councilperson.
