“Excellent 10” Projects for Economic Development

The Economic Development Board for Tacoma and Pierce County has released its 2014 Excellent 10 List. The annual list names the top 10 projects worked on or completed in the prior year in Pierce County for economic development.

2014 Excellent 10

  • State Farm (Tacoma) - 1100 new jobs - 300,000 square feet of Class A office space
  • BNY Mellon (Tacoma) - 170 jobs retained - Operating in downtown Tacoma since 1999
  • Niagara Bottling (Frederickson) - 45 new jobs - New 311,000 square foot building - $50 million capital investment
  • Western Institutional Review Board (Puyallup) - 200 new jobs - 45,000 square feet
  • Sumner Distribution Warehouse Developments - Six warehouse/logistics buildings under development or completed - 2,000,000 square feet
  • University Place Town Center - Public private partnership development - Mixed use retail, office and residential space
  • TriWest  Healthcare Alliance (Puyallup) - 100 new jobs - 14,000 square feet
  • Point Ruston Copperline Condominiums (Tacoma) - 776 construction jobs - $150 million capital investment
  • Tehaleh (Bonney Lake) - 4200 acre planned community, with 5900 homes projected - 419 acre employment center zoned
  • Holiday Inn Express (Tacoma Brewery District) - 163 rooms - $18 million capital investment

The list includes some of the hard numbers to back up these top 10, which got us wondering if the list would look different if we were talking about projects that made impacts in harder to quantify ways.
