New This Summer: Stadium Fare
The Stadium District is trying something a little different; Stadium Fare, described as “an eclectic neighborhood market,” kicked off last Saturday, July 6.
The new event will return to the parking lot behind First Presbyterian Church across from Wright Park, on the corner of South 2nd and G every other weekend through the summer, ending September 28.
We were inspired to create an event similar to the open-air markets that one would find if they were wandering around Paris.
Fare organizers aim to provide a fun and festive atmosphere, featuring local businesses, artists, food, and entertainment.
While Stadium High School was originally built to resemble a French chateau, STADIUM FARE is designed to match the experience of an open-air market in Paris, complete with sidewalk performers. Stand between the lovely cobble stoned street of the two church buildings and you’ll feel the exhilaration of the creativity of Montmartre beckoning as our local working artists map your features and depict the local flavor of our community.
You can expect to hear live music, and encounter roving entertainers including mimes, jugglers, and fire workers. Stroll the booths, find something that strikes your fancy, and maybe a bite to eat, and wander across the street to enjoy Wright Park. Sounds like a pleasant way to enjoy a summer Saturday.
