Pierce County Could Limit Possession, Use, Sale of E-Cigarettes & Vaping Products
At a meeting next week the Pierce County Board of Health will vote on new rules on the possession, use, and sale of e-cigarettes and vaping products.
The new rules would apply to Pierce County
- Annual permits would be required for the sale of e-cigarettes and vaping products
- No one under 18 would be allowed to possess the products
- Child-resistant packaging would be required for e-cigarette liquid
- Use of vapor products would be prohibitted in all public places and worksites, consistent with the Washington state Smoking in Public Places law.
The rules are meant to protect kids from the negative and addictive effects of nicotine, and the public from the yet to be determined potential negative impacts of second hand e-smoke.
The Board votes on the proposed rules at its meeting next week on November 18. Public comment on the rules will be taken at the meeting, or by email/snail mail until then. Smoke 'em if you got 'em...?
