Polar Plaza Returns to Downtown Tacoma

Polar Plaza returns to downtown Tacoma later this month. The ice rink will once again sprout up at 17th and Pacific, transforming Tollefson Plaza into the home of what has by now become an annual tradition for many.

Metro Parks joins Chi Franciscan Health, Tacoma Art Museum, and the City of Tacoma as a sponsor this year, providing programming including a full schedule of special events like nature-based activities, fitness on ice, and skate performances, as well as an on-site food truck offering concessions for skaters.

Live music nights and themed events are also planned throughout the month-and-a-half the skate rink will be open. A few in particular that caught our eye are Blind Date Skate, Night of the Holiday Living Dead, Teacher's Night Out, and the Broomball Challenge. Oh, and of course, the rink is open New Year's Eve as Part of the downtown First Night festivities. View all the planned events on the Polar Plaza events calendar.

The Polar Plaza skating season kicks off the morning of November 21 with an opening celebration, and continues through January 10.

In case you had any lingering doubts that the holidays are nearly upon us, although Zoolights won't open at the zoo until November 27, tickets are already on sale. Let the holiday fun begin.
