Secure Bike Storage Opening at the Tacoma Dome Station Next Week
Pierce Transit, Downtown On the Go, the City of Tacoma and the state Department of Transportation have teamed up to provide a secure bike storage area at the Tacoma Dome Station (TDS). The facility, which will open to the public on Thursday, May 26 at 7 a.m., will offer a mix of vertical, horizontal, and oversized bike racks, a bike repair station, lockers and a bench.
The new facility, officially called a Secure Parking Area (SPA), will hold up to 17 standard-sized and two oversized or tandem bikes. Spots in the SPA will rent for $8 per quarter or $25 per year, plus a $5 key deposit. Lockers will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and are free. The public may rent space in the SPA by visiting The Bus Shop at the Tacoma Dome Station between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. A rental agreement is available at The Bus Shop or on Pierce Transit’s web site at www.piercetransit.org/bikes-buses/. Completed agreements and payment for the Tacoma Dome Station SPA should be delivered in person to The Bus Shop.
There will be a formal ribbon-cutting at the new SPA facility on Wednesday, May 25 at 5 p.m. The SPA is located on the Puyallup Avenue side of TDS near the entry to the garage and the bus platform.
As a once-upon-a-time very regular bicycle commuter, I'm excited. Does this help your commute?
