Tacoma Community House is spicing things up with a brand new community-wide event called FLAVOR, and we hope you’ll make a commitment to join us! The concept is simple. Go out to eat at a participating FLAVOR restaurant on Thursday, October 24 and 25% of your food bill will be donated to support our immigrant integration initiatives throughout the South Sound region.
This event will give individuals the opportunity to recognize immigrants in the community. We are a country of immigrants and it is our diversity that makes us unique. It is not always easy to navigate a new country, but by utilizing services at TCH and welcoming gestures from the community, it becomes much easier to succeed.
FLAVOR will bring together immigrant-owned and immigrant-supporting restaurants with other businesses and volunteers in a spirit of unity. Through the event, we -collectively - will be telling a story about the contributions immigrants make in our neighborhoods and communities. Why this event? Food is an expression of culture, and, like other aspects of our lives, the relationship of immigrants to food has long been a central part of the American experience.
From Tacoma to Lakewood and Gig Harbor to Federal Way, we have a small, but diverse list of supporting restaurants that will surely put some more FLAVOR in your life! Just to whet your appetite, some of your favorite restaurants that are participating include: Indochine Asian Dining Lounge, Il Lucano Ristorante, Dirty Oscar’s Annex, La Creme Brulee, and Gateway to India! Click here to view the list of participating restaurants!
And did we mention you’ll have free opportunities to win a 7-day/6-night vacation in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico valued at $1,500? All you have to do is stand up for immigrants while sitting down for a meal on Thursday, October 24.
