The latest schematic designs for Metro Parks Tacoma’s planned 55,000-square-foot, two-story Eastside Community Center will be unveiled at an open house from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 18 at the Salishan Family Investment Center, 1724 E. 44th St, Tacoma. The community center is planned for the campus of First Creek Middle School, near the intersection of East 56th Street and Portland Avenue. Tentative opening date is spring 2018. The purpose of the meeting is to gather feedback from community members. “This is really an opportunity to influence the look and feel of the building,” said Dave Lewis, Metro Parks Tacoma director of recreation and community services.
