What Happened to Never Never Land!?

Recently, I found the Never Never Land on the Metro Parks website:

This weekend I took my family to check it out.

How very sad!!!!

I can imagine what tourists visiting the park think when they see the remnants of what used to be a great attraction.

Who knows what goes on in those little houses now.

If maintaining Never Never Land is not a priority for Metro Parks, I would think that some neighborhoods would be thrilled to have some of these elements in their local parks.

Re: What Happened to Never Never Land!?

After our last excursion to Never Never Land, I talked to Metro Parks about it.  According to Curtis Hancock, the spot is just too isolated to keep up with all of the vandalism.

It's a terrible shame, IMO.

This is what it looked like when we went in March:

and there are some more pictures here:

if you contrast them with this photo I found on flickr:

You can see just how far the place has fallen since they stopped maintaining it in 2004.

According to Hancock, the never never land spot may become a Native American historical museum under the new park master plan.

Hurts your heart to look at it now though, doesn't it?
