5K Fun Run Supports FISH Food Banks

Seattle, WA (May 1, 2016) – On Saturday, May 14, 2016 Univera Serve First® will host its second annual 5k Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma. Sponsored by Univera, Inc., proceeds from this family event benefit FISH Food Banks of Pierce County.

The main race begins at 9:00 am at Owens Beach at Point Defiance Park. Details and a registration link are at servefirst.org. Special guests include Miss Washington and Rhubarb the Reindeer from the Tacoma Rainiers.

The young and young-at-heart can take pictures with Rhubarb from 9:30-10:30 after the 8:30 Kids Fun Run. Children 6 years and under can enjoy a 100 yard dash while the 7 to 12 year-olds are challenged by a half mile dash.

Last year, this event provided 81,611 meals to families through FISH Food Banks. The goal for 2016 is to double that. FISH Food Banks is the oldest and largest food bank network in Pierce County. Their innovative Mobile Food Bank, a semi-truck and trailer turned food bank on wheels, visits a different location daily. They serve approximately 1/3 of all Pierce County residents who need food assistance.

Univera Serve First is a public charity dedicated to addressing the nutritional needs of at-risk children worldwide. It supports eligible non-profits from donations that are matched by Univera, Inc.
