Feed Hungry Families in Pierce County on May 13 & 14

Enjoy a family-friendly weekend in support of providing nutritious food to families in need.

FISH Food Banks is the oldest and largest food bank network in the county, distributing nutritious food to people in need with compassion, dignity and respect. In 2015, FISH’s seven food banks and award-winning Mobile Food Bank’s nine distribution sites served 518,000 client visits, impacting the lives of more than 74,000 unique people in crisis. Nearly 40% of clients are children aged 0 – 18. 

 

FISH Food Banks of Pierce County is pleased to present NOURISH! Dinner & Auction on Friday, May 13. This fun and meaningful evening features silent and live auctions, dinner and dancing featuring the Kim Archer Band. The event takes place at 6:00 p.m. at Hotel Murano’s Bicentennial Pavilion, located at 1320 Broadway Plaza in Tacoma. Tickets are $65 each. On Saturday, May 14, Univera Serve First Foundation hosts the second annual 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run benefitting the children and families served by FISH Food Banks. Have your photo taken with Miss Washington and Rhubarb, mascot of the Tacoma Rainiers. The race begins at 9:00 a.m. at Owens Beach in Pt. Defiance Park. Pre-registration is encouraged. A 100-yard dash for children 6 and under, and a half-mile dash for 12 and under take place before the 5K. Registration is $35, and $10 for kids 12 and under. All race proceeds go directly to feed people in need.

 

Univera Serve First is a public charity dedicated to addressing the nutritional needs of at-risk children worldwide. Univera Serve First believes that one of the most basic ways to begin improving the quality of life is by improving the quality of nutrition and nourishment, and seeks to set an example for strengthening the spirit of integrity, respect and service in every community—wherever children are in need.
