Hilltop Artists has launched a $30,000 IndieGoGo campaign for new glassblowing equipment

Tacoma, Wash.—Hilltop Artists has launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise $30,000 in 45 days. The funds will be used to replace an expensive aging furnace, known as a glory hole, in Hilltop Artists’ Jason Lee hot shop. This is a critical hot shop component that the students use to reheat their glass while working on their creations. After 12 years, the glory hole has stopped functioning safely and has had to be shut down. The loss of this equipment has reduced the capacity of Hilltop Artists to serve the youth in their programs. The campaign ends on June 4th, 2014, and Hilltop Artists is turning to the public with the crowdfunding model for a unique way to fund this essential piece of equipment.

IndieGoGo.com is one of the world’s most popular crowdfunding websites. The site was founded in 2008, and acts as an online funding platform for many types of projects. Campaigns posted on the site have a set number of days to raise a specified amount of funds. Hilltop Artists’ ambitious goal of $30,000 has had strong support so far - over $4,400 in less than a week - and they are looking to the community to continue the campaign’s momentum.
