Babe Lehrer, Tacoma businesswoman and philanthropist, dead at 93

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Babe Lehrer over the weekend. The TNT calls her a "cornerstone of Tacoma philanthropy and business," and that seems like a good place to start.

She made countless contributions to Tacoma over the years including contributions to Tacoma Community College, the creation of the Theater District, and Temple Beth El, where she was a member. A public memorial service is planned for this Thursday at the Pantages.

She's been a fixture of Tacoma and guiding force for so many years. It's very hard to imagine Tacoma without Babe.
