If we want people to drive less, we have to end sexism

More women than men ride public transportation. Yet many, if not most women, have felt unsafe when riding public transit.

Sexual harassment, or outright assault are not uncommon experiences, a fact which causes many women who can afford to avoid public transit to do so.

This article makes the argument (based on a longer Atlantic Cities article) that if cities and transit advocates want to get serious about encouraging ridership, they've also got to get serious about discouraging sexual harassment.
